General Outdoor Advice

Outdoor lighting adds beauty and dimension to your home.
Brighten up your home’s exterior with our wide range of outdoor lights. Our durable outdoor lights are designed to withstand rain and weather conditions and are suitable for year-round use.
Just as lighting is important inside your home, lighting outside of your home is equally as important – if not more so. Exterior lighting can make your home look beautiful and highlight the architectural features in the evening. Aside from aesthetics, the safety and security that lighting can provide, gives you and your guests added security and peace of mind when entering and leaving your home.

Often overlooked as a motivation for great outdoor lighting is that it affects how we interpret indoor living. A pitch-black view out our windows at night creates a dark barrier between your interior and the exterior, closing in your home and making it feel small and cramped.

Understanding IP Ratings

IP stands for Ingress Protection or in other words, the degrees of protection to electronic devices against the intrusion of foreign objects and liquids defined by international standards.

Coastal Friendly

Should you be close to the sea it is important to select a light that is suitable to these conditions so that the light does not rust or oxidise in the first few months of installation.

Maintaining Outdoor Lights

Whether you are situated at the coast or further inland, maintaining your outdoor lights is very important, especially if you would like to get the full life span from the light fitting.
When installing your fitting add a little grease or Vaseline onto the threading of the screws, this will help you have easy access to the globes should you need to replace them or removing the fitting off your wall. Having your outdoor light wiped down will eliminate any dirt build up on the lens and will allow your light to throw its full illumination. To help prevent any rust or oxidisation it is recommended to wipe your outdoor lights down with a damp cloth to clear any salt build-up then use a dry cloth and apply some baby oil to your fitting.
